Searches, waiting, and nerve-wracking ordeals marked her journey from her home to the walls/doors, thresholds, of the summons office! This included the terror experienced by the passengers on the nearly crashed plane, and the ultimate humiliation: what was the point of a vague and suspicious summons for a writer without any clear justification? She would be taken to the 'investigator', and the citizen seemed to be treated as an enemy by the official.

The writer portrayed the summons office as akin to a prison, as if the agonizing flight was a reflection of what the passengers experienced in their real lives. It was as if the terror the narrator felt on the plane was a prelude to what she would encounter at the summons office upon arrival, depicting the most degrading form of bureaucratic treatment.

The narrator became engrossed in cursing her reality, in a romantic, psychologically painful, bureaucratic, fearful, and deteriorating state. At the beginning of the novel, she subtly revealed her crisis, not disclosing what she would reveal in moments of enlightenment towards the end
