We are currently developing our processes and software for RFID support. We have implemented OmniKey and metraTec hardware and software, which will allow us to encode HF13.56 MHz tags (TI-Tag it and I-code formats), complying with ISO15693.
We have also ordered equivalent hardware and software to support ISO-28560.
Although common standards and requirements for RFID within UK Libraries are unclear at this stage, we will endeavour to support specific requirements from our customers. Like our Marc records, we will provide RFID barcode encoding free of charge.
We plan to start testing in 2Q-2010 with a user group of local libraries. We welcome additional libraries to join the testing phase for our RFID implementation, and other process improvement programmes currently in place.
